Description
Fikirini is located at the south eastern part of Kwale County near the fishing village of Shimoni. The caves are about 15 kilometers from the Kenana-Shimoni junction.
The first cave is called Mdenyenye and is the largest. History has it that it was specifically used as a hideout for the villagers who were running away from slave traders.
The second cave is Pangani, it has several chambers that were used for prayers and rest.
Pangani is unique since it has an underground tunnel that connects to the Shimoni caves. The third is the Kisimani cave, that has a well that never runs dry.
